Life of Pi (A Movie Review)

source

Well, it’s our monthsary of my bf yesterday and he treated me to watch in cinema the movie Life of Pi. First, I already saw the trailer of this and taught that it was just a 3D movie, lol. My friends Sheena and Cha read the book and I haven’t read their review yet. And many fb friends made their status to watch this movie and I did think I should too. J

Anyways, moving forward this movie taught me more lessons in life. First is to keep on believing that there is God no matter what will happen according to the story of course (though he has 3 religions). Despite of his long journey in the Pacific Ocean he kept on reminding himself that “above all, don’t lose hope”.

So the story goes like this, (note: this will be combinations of web explanation and the way I saw it, lol). Stated in wiki Life of Pi is a fantasy adventure novel by Yann Martel published in 2001. The protagonist, Piscine Molitor "Pi" Patel, an Indian boy from Pondicherry, explores issues of spirituality and practicality from an early age. He survives 227 days after a shipwreck while stranded on a boat in the Pacific Ocean with a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker.

Wow, and that was 227 days after he landed the sea in Mexico. Shocks. I can’t even imagine if I am Pi. Lol, good thing he was a swimmer. Haha. Well, this is just a fantasy and let’s not thinks it in real situation, hehe. J

Well since I can’t get enough from it, I hope this summary of mine as I watched it will explain.
Pi, which is his name, came from a long story, Pi sign in math. He was at his teens when this journey happened. This boy is very curious of everything I think and that situation saved him and to still be alive as of the story ends. He was with his family and they have a zoo in Pondicherry and his father wants to sell it and moved to Canada. They sell the zoo and other animals and some of the animals were bring to Canada with them as they travel through ship from their place to Canada, wow.  This means they will pass through a wide sea and it happened that there was a storm through their travel and he was just the only one who survived riding in a lifeboat. L

Oh wait, he was not just the human but his companion along as survivals were the zebra, Bengal tiger, hyena and the orangutan. Little by little since it was hard to survive in the ocean, it was the tiger who survived alive with him as he ducked from the sea. It was so hard thinking that he was lost in the ocean and his whole family died. But through his positivity he made it. And of course God accompanied him.

It was really a great story that reminds us no matter how tough the situation in life, God won’t allow us to fight it alone. He is with us always. Movie you should watch for. :)
